On 23th of January 2018 we cross the border to Panama and find close to Portobelo on Caribbean cost a nice place, directly on the beach at Marcella's. We spend two days there and drive on the 25th of January to Panama City, fighting with traffic chaos and with authorities to get our car police inspected. Then we drive to Yacht Club Shelter Bay Marina close to Colon, where we spend some relaxing days with swimming pool, nice drinks and nice chats with yacht owners. Monday, 29th of January there are more authorities' paperwork and officials' paperwork and a lot of going here and there at the port to ship our vehicle to Columbia. After a lot of "blood, sweat and tears" we finally drive back to Panama City and even have still some energy left to visit the Miraflores Locks and admire the Canal. In Panama City we find a cozy little turn-of-the-century hostal (Posada 1914), beautifully relaxed, calm and sweet in the middle of this crazy broiling skyscraper-megapolis Ciudad de Panama. We visit the old town Casco Viejo and are enchanted. On 1st of February we are picked up before daybreak to start our sailing cruise through San Blas Islands direction Cartagena/Columbia.
Pity we did not have more time for Panama; due to preponing our vehicle-shipping (3 weeks earlier than scheduled) we had to change our travel-plans.
